No, that's not a penalty for me. The defender stood his ground and Dorgu ran into him, where was the defender supposed to go?
Tale of the match at Old Trafford; 3 dubious penalties, an extremely harsh red card and 7 yellows to Real Sociedad in a game that didn't have a bad tackle in it. Nice to see Fernandes get a hattrick, it'll make him even more popular than he already is.
Beautiful stuff. Lots of criticism about overplaying at the back but goals like that justify why teams do it. Not the best of performances but always thought we'd beat Alkmaar. Said it when the draw was done but I'm more confident about the semi than the quarters. Hopefully we can get past Frankfurt.
Aye, a tough draw, quality in their team but they can be a little patchy? Although them & the opponents you'd expect to face in the semi are all after CL qualification so you won't get to do it the easy way!
He could've scored 5 and the referee would've still stole the limelight - like you alluded to some absolutely shocking decisions United's second penalty and the red in particular. I was actually surprised VAR ruled out the 3rd United penalty despite the overrule being the correct decision the way things were going. No but look United had zero say in performance of officials you did what was only in your control and got the job done you've got a fantastic chance of winning this competition now.
That was tough to watch at the end, and congrats to Manchester United on advancing. You were the better side tonight even before the red card. I'm not sure how to feel about tonight, all the calls from the ref went against us. We only got a penalty due to VAR and then got one called back because of VAR, so without that we would have had 0 zeros and United would have gotten 3 penalty kicks. Crazy. The first penalty for United I understood even though I don't agree, only because I thought the one given to us was a close call so if you call one, you have to call the other. The second penalty makes no sense, what is Aritz supposed to do there? Even the red card felt harsh as I didn't think he was the last defender, but the ref made his decision. Congrats again to Manchester United.
Two questionable penalty shouts for Fenerbache towards the end there. There’s already been three penalty shootouts this week and the away side has won every time.
Can't disagree with anything you've said, except I thought United's first penalty award was the worst of the 3 given on the night.
The second penalty was worse. We got ran into and they called a penalty. Crazy. But Manchester United were the deserved winners, I just didn't like how it came about. It was a tough task from the beginning. We are still in the Copa Semis, and fighting for Europe next year so we can't take breaks and Manchester United are a different class when it comes to talent. Enjoy the night sir. I'm glad to find this place.
