My point isn't about her, its about other innocent British people potentially being harmed by this precedent in the future. I couldn't care less about her. But that's the core of this particular problem though. In normal circumstances the foreign country would pursue charges with the British government but there is no foreign government to press charges against Begum in this case which leaves the British government to charge and detain her. Even we've been repatriating and charging Americans who similarly joined ISIS like Begum. And the US government are hardly bleeding hearts...
In the absence of anyone prepared or able to 'charge her' the UK government have simply decided they don't want her back. The USA adopting a different approach doesn't make their actions right, just different.
He even outright calls it a racist policy and not discriminatory or something 'softer', which is totally unexpected to see from a right-winger these days.
I never expected to see that. Fair play to him, as it will not go down well with a lot of his supporters.
I feel like a lot of people make assumptions about Rees Mogg based on the way he speaks and what other people have said about him.
He's opposed to human rights acts. He's opposed to immigration. He's opposed to LGBT rights. He's opposed to raising the amount spent on welfare. He's opposed to tackling climate change. He's anti-EU. He's anti-trade union. He opposes taxing banker's bonuses. He's opposed to making the Lords an elected chamber. source: Voting record - Jacob Rees-Mogg MP, North East Somerset
A haunted flagpole? A victorian cosplayer? I mean all his c*ntishness aside the thing i still can't get my head around with him is the fact he's younger than kylie minogue...
I can't believe he's got 6 kids, so someone slept with him 6 times. His wife sounds even posher than him, her maiden name was Helena Anne Beatrix Wentworth Fitzwilliam de Chair!
