Abbey gone now too, this time to Olympiacos (so will probably end up at Forest in the next couple of years). As always an undisclosed fee so will have no idea how much, or likely little, we got for him. That's now 2 of our 3 captains this season sold in January. Just to fund us a little longer in hope that we can get a new owner in before this money is quickly used up. Also loaned out Nesta Guinness-Walker to Stevenage, which will see out the end of his contract. Can only assume he fell out with Selles as despite his limitations in a back 4, he would have been better than some of the players we have played there. Still think he's a great wingback, and I hear Stevenage play a back 5 so he could do really well for them. Wasn't too bad for us last year in the Championship. Not expecting that we'll bring anyone in. So far we've lost 3 w
Yes, he’s definitely worth that. Not sure he’s good enough for the step up to the championship if and when Derby get there though, he’s just not consistent enough. There aren’t many better wingers in L1, if any at getting the ball to feet and breezing past the full back and getting into the box, his final ball is often massively frustrating but once he’s in the box you’ve always got a chance.
England Under 20 forward 19 year old Michael Olakigbe on loan from Brentford , looking forward to seeing him in the number 15 shirt on Saturday v Wigan . One player I was looking forward to seeing was GK Jed Steer who I've not personally seen play but everyone who has says he's a massive upgrade on the 3 child GK's Posh have , only had short contract until tomorrow but unfortunately gone , i feel we may rue this decision .
Next one out is Tom McIntyre, off to Portsmouth for a fee supposedly only £75k Again sad to see another Reading fan be one of those who has gone. But he was out of contract in the Summer, probably one of our higher earners, and not guaranteed to start. Could do well for Portsmouth if (big if) he can stay fit. But versatile and useful, and definitely good enough for this level. We surely must have a low wage bill now, not that many players left in general, and only two first-teamers from last season. Everyone else either promoted from the academy or signed this season. And despite that low wage bill we will still struggle financially. Just hope that is the end of the outgoings, as we've done well to lose 4 without impacting our first 11 very much.
I still find it amusing that we are shifting defenders when we have one of the worst defensive records in the division. That's 4 defenders sold now (although one, the best one, stayed here on loan).
We've signed midfielder Matt Butcher from Plymouth and he can also play as a left back which we really need so Leahy can play in midfield which is his favourite position.
Derby have signed defensive midfielder Adams on loan from Cardiff, played for FGR when they got promoted from Division 2, does anyone know what he is like as a player.
Yay , Jed Steer back again until the end of the season , Fynn Talley will probably go out on loan or we'll have 4 GK's hoping for the main spot & Steers wages most likely been paid for with add on cash with Marriott joining Wrexham earlier .
Ephron Mason-Clark has signed for Coventry in a 4 year deal but comes back on loan to Posh until the end of the season . Not sure how motivated he'll be especially trying not to get injured etc... Good cash for Posh & also Barnet & well done Grant McCann for insisting on signing him when MacAnthony was unsure .
I would hope he still gives everything, it shows better character. What is your opinion on him and the rumoured 3.5mil?
If I became a millionaire yesterday & then got sent back to my original job but if I get injured then potentially I'm going to lose that life changing money then I wouldn't be 100% committed either , common sense & I imagine Derby with Max Bird will probably find the same . EMC is a quick , tricky , strong , assists & scores goals my only gripe with him & this just maybe a Posh coaching thing is that when the opposition have just won the ball in their 3rd or half of pitch he can be half of a whole second behind with his defensive duties . £3.5 million ( rumoured our end as well ) is £ we can't turn down though I've no idea where all the millions & millions in previous transfer deals over last decade & massive profits we make goes to considering the amount of debt we're in ? Good luck for the season anyway , with O'Hare back you've every chance , is he available on a ' free ' at the end of the season ?
We have signed 21 year old central defender Nigel Lonwijk on loan from Wolves and 21 year old left back Saxon Earley on loan from Plymouth both until the end of the season.
Thanks. Yes, the only way O'Hare is staying is if we're promoted otherwise he's going on a free. We have a chance of playoffs and a better chance with O'Hare. With 6 months left, coming off a long injury, we were never going to get big money for him in Jan. I'm glad we're holding on to him and taking the chance. At least now SISU have gone, the days of giving out 2 year contracts are over.
Two further exits yesterday. Selling two of our most highly-rated youngsters who have gained a few minutes this season. Caylan Vickers to Brighton, and Taylan Harris to Luton. Shame to lose some of our best prospects, probably for much lower fees than they warrant now, and would warrant with getting more game time. But it's a short term gain in order to keep us running, for medium term pain that we would take if it still means we have a club! Did manage to bring one player in this window. Zane Monlouis joins on loan from Arsenal to give us some depth in defence. Definitely need some depth as our bench has been decimated this window. Sounds like we did hold firm a little yesterday despite some bids for our key players. There were about 4 or 5 we simply had to keep hold of to have any chance of staying up. Sounds like we did receive some ridiculously low bids by some vultures that were thankfully rejected..
As much as I don't like to give the current regime any credit, I believe we have only sold players so that we can cover wages for the next 2, 3 or 4 months until the club is sold. Hence why we rejected approaches for our key players. Those that have gone will not have a huge impact on our first team so the window can be seen as OK in our current situation. I'm sure Dai knows that to sell all the best playing assets for small amounts will have a larger impact on the value on of the club, that is if he is truly serious about selling and not liquidating.
Signed 22 year old ex Arsenal , Leicester , Dundee & Cardiff right back Vontae Daley-Campbell ( double barrelled , so Posh , gonna be a superstar ) on a 6 month deal . Isn't fully fit yet but will play v Burnley Under 21's on Friday , a natural right back who replaces Peter Kioso & maybe a better option than Jadel Katongo a natural centre back who's filled in recently but not very well & the new lad already knows Kwame Poku & Josh Knight , always a bonus .
