The serious problem with McKennie is his professionalism. He eats crap and is frankly fat for a footballer. You might be able to get away with that in a slower paced league but over here you cannot.
We were linked to this guy in January as well. I didn't get it then, and now it makes even less sense. He's a right footed left winger, and we have plenty of cover there - mitoma, adingra, enciso, Pedro, etc. Last season it was (ideally left footed) right wingers we lacked, and for this coming season I'm not even sure if Hurzeler will use wingers.
Probably skewed because he's a sub though right? Idk Chelsea just need to buy Osimhen or something they spent over 100m on CMS twice but are trying to go cheap on forwards kinda idiotic.
Not gonna lie, I was sitting here thinking who is CMS? The presence of Jackson kind of renders the need to get someone like Duran a bit pointless. If I was them I'd be going for an experienced head around the 30 mark.
Both Caicedo and Enzo are on £150kpw though. (per Spotrac) I said a while back that the club are done with the £100m signings. Osimhen would not only cost excess of that, his wages would be £250-300kpw on top of a hefty agents fee. He would cost the club almost £40m annually and this isn't even considering the very likelihood he could flop in the Premier League. From what I have seen of Duran, he has a lot about him that Jackson lacks. We'd certainly be better off with a more experienced ST coming in, but who? Also a lot remains to be seen with how much we need to spend given we reportedly still want to bring Olise back.
To come in and be #1 there aren't any. But I look at your options (Jackson and Nkunku) and I think one more to compliment those two and Chelsea will be well set for the upcoming season. But you don't want another £50m player in there, it will disrupt the balance of things. It's why I found the Sesko links strange too. Assuming fitness, you have the guy ready to go and lead the attack (Nkunku), the promising young guy backing him up (Jackson).....you don't need another of the latter. That's why I think an older option who knows what they are, knows what role they'd have to compliment the other two and provide something a little different for Chelsea is the way to go. Who that is? I dunno, certainly off the top of my head.
Same. Only got it after reading Skinner's post. It's all @Muller's fault. S should have been of lower case.
Seen a few reports that Chelsea might be looking to offload Datro Fofana which would pique my interest more. Someone we’ve been linked to before, can play anywhere across the front 3, decent scoring record at Burnley, bit of extra pace. If we lose Undav then I wonder if we’d move for him again. Edit: Pique is probably the wrong word. Summerville is almost certainly the better player, but Fofana seems much more like an “us” transfer
It's difficult to say until we know roughly how we'd line up under the new manager, but any forward signings would feel a bit unnecessary to me this summer. Maybe if we lose undav like you said, but that would still leave us with potentially 10 (Pedro, Welbeck, Ferguson, Enciso, March, Buonanotte, Osman, Sarmiento, mitoma and adingra) forward options in the squad next season, not to mention the u21s like O'Mahony and BBB for emergencies Unless some of those go out on loan, the only real gap I can see is an experienced option on the right if March's recovery has significant set backs, or potentially an experienced AM/SS option if we stick with a 4-forwards formation (a gap gross can easily fill anyway)
Lloyd Kelly to Newcastle is done, be interesting to see if Eddie uses him left or centrally. Signed keeper Alex Paulsen from Wellington Phoenix for 800k rising to 2m. Sounds like he’ll spend some pre season here and then a decision taken as to whether he goes on loan somewhere in ‘the group’.
I think these type of older strikers are hard to come by simply because of wages. A contract for these type of players will likely be their last big money deal in their career, and with Saudi luring more and more of these footballers it will be difficult to attract them. I can get behind Duran for the right price. Unlike Jackson, I think Duran is a proper centre forward. Jackson has great qualities but more tailored to a wide attacker.
