what do you think of the state of our squad beyond this season? Keep Kasper Justin Chilwell Soyuncu Evans Tielemans Vardy Maddison Ward Iheanacho Barnes Perez Choudhury Ricardo Ndidi Praet Fuchs Jakupovic Not Sure Morgan Benkovic Amartey - definitely loan out at least Bennett Get Rid Gray Albrighton Slimani James Silva Mendy Diabate Ghezzal
Im shocked at your decision with Gray. There were times i thought you must have been him you defended him that much! It is a shame he never progressed though. He offered so much promise.
Gray has been ok as a sub, so that depends if he is ok carrying on in that role. I would keep Albrighton. Probably keep at least one of Morgan and Bennet. Bear in mind I am taking player budget into account since we have no money. I will be surprised if we dont sell a high value first teamer, I expect chilwell is the most likely to be sold.
Don't think getting rid of loads of players is needed that much, so much as investing in experience. We rely too much on young, extremely erratic and inconsistent players too much right now. The likes of Maddison, Tielemans, Chilwell, Barnes etc. all seem to be one extreme to the other right now. They'll look like world beaters one week and the can't control or pass a football the next. I know they're talented players and consistency will come with time, so it's normt a criticism of them per se, just a standard problem relying too much on young players still learning to be your main creative outlet. But we need more experienced consistent player while they're still learning.
We need goals from the wide positions. Bring in 2 wingers for either side. We should also bring in Zakaria from Borussia Monchenlongname because he can cover about 3 positions we need players in. Not really sure about the experience argument. Yeah we lack it to a degree but the only experienced players we can bring in that don’t cost a fortune are right at the end of their careers and likely don’t have anything to offer in playing terms other than simply experience itself. People will remind us of Cambiasso but forget he was in a side struggling to stay in the division they’ll also forget Inler and Iborra who did nothing of note, as well as the likes of Slimani and Adrien Silva who were at the wrong end of their 20’s. Experienced but not good enough. Suggestions on experienced players that would get into the first 11?
Gray is on the list as he'd only have 1 year on his contract so its decision time, he's not shown enough to commit another 4 years to. Also why will we have no money? we haven't had to use furlough, we haven't had to take pay cuts either, sounds like we are in a very healthy financial position
My comment is based on the accounts, and our transfer activity for past 2 seasons. The profits have vanished, king power wont put money in other than sponsorship, club has to be self sustained, our wages to turnover is very high. Finally our net transfer spend is close to zero. This is not a bad thing though, it means the club is run very well. I would rather we be self sustained, than spending 100million we dont have.
They have put money in, who do you think is paying for the training ground that opens this summer? I don't see a first teamer leaving as no one will pay what we will demand, which in itself is a statement of intent, sell the names I have mentioned and we should have more than enough money to get at least one quality winger in, which is the priority this summer, will also see a large chunk of our wage bill leave too in Albrighton, Slimani and Silva alone
The training ground is been funded by a loan, I forgot to mention we are in debt again now as well. There is also a loan for the mahrez money, man city are paying the future instalments direct to the creditor. Plus another loan secured on a season of TV money. (this was probably to give us cashflow, so we could pay for Tielemans etc.) I think the 3rd loan may have replaced the first loan, it was a while ago when I read the documents. But yeah we will save wages on players leaving the club, and some potential transfer fees as well.
Not sure what Benkovic’s situation is or even if he’s playing regularly, but I’d keep him or Morgan. I’d also keep Albrighton and if we didn’t get any sort of decent offer for Gray I’d keep him too and possibly let his contract run out. I’d love to get rid of the rest on the list but unfortunately I can’t see anyone paying them anywhere near the money they’re on here, so loans will probably be more likely. Being in Europe means we need players in but I’m just not sure whether we can afford to do it without selling one of our high price assets. It’s going to be an interesting transfer market this year.
Benkovic played 10 games and scored twice during his loan spell @JoshBCFC would probably be able to explain why he didn't play more
I know he recently had an injury. Also Celtic fans want him back. Dunno what that says about his quality.
Had a really dodgy first few games. Looked too casual and slow on the ball, plus he wasn't great defensively either. Should be kept in mind though we were on a bad run of form from when he came in until LJ got sacked and nobody was looking particularly great. Last few games he's looked more like a solid Championship player and I think we'd all take him back next year, not sure that will happen though. In summary, decent player but hasn't set the world alight.
the only title winner that should be at the club next season is Jamie Vardy, the rest are holding us back
Assuming Rodgers stays which I think he will, I think he needs backing, and a clear out needed to get the players he wants, whether we can do that remains to be seen, but even if its bargain buys and loan signings, he needs to be able to change it up. For the title winners, I think fuchs clearly still has value, he has quality even at his age, albrighton still has a little quality as well, but he seems to be a player who needs a run of games to get at his best and I dont think he will get that with us anymore. Kasper as a keeper has always been inconsistent, there is many games where he keeps the score down, and also games where you wonder what he is doing. What is notable is in recent games the shots on target for other teams vs goals scored is very alarming, e.g. man utd 3 shots on target, 2 goals, the games before those, I think spurs hads 3 shots on target, all 3 were goals, not too dissimilar for bournemouth either. Whether thats a kasper problem or not I dont know though. I am also wondering about our coaches, the one's who have been with us a long term regardless of the manager we have, are they a problem?
For a team with no depth, that's a massive squad. It's no wonder you are struggling for money. I'd concentrate on getting the clearout sorted first. Promote a few kids, and only buy players that fit what the manager wants.
