That was a special moment. I was running around the house like a lunatic. I don’t think it can be overstated what a huge, huge goal that was!!! 4 points clear with a game in hand, this title is completely in our hands now What a ****ing night
7 points clear after winning our game in hand last night, we are so close! Can’t believe how good Trincao has been since returning to the starting 11 in the second half of the season. Looks to have really matured as a player as he’s been immense
The culmination and eventual breaking point of years of issues behind the scenes. The club presidential elections are due to take place and PdC, who’s been in charge since 1982 is finally facing serious opposition from Andre Villas Boas. Poor recruitment, poor scouting and serious financial issues have finally turned enough people against him. But those who are loyal to the current president have been vandalising AVB’s house, attacking caretakers who work at his house complex and multiple other incidents. It’s turned very nasty and it’s all just consumed the club this year. On the pitch, Conceição is out of contract and it seems that serious contract talks haven’t really been entered which will undoubtedly have had an effect. His teams are complete bastards and really rely a lot on that siege mentality, so I think with everything happening off the pitch it’s just been too much of a divisive environment to perform to their usual standard
I blame 41 yr old Pepe , missing at weekend due to a ban . Watched a few live matches start of the season on Viaplay + then got taken off air but it's good to see Leôes top dogs although I'd be surprised if manager & 3/4 of their better players are still there next season but all 3 top teams buy , sell , rinse & repeat .
Amorim got the team selection badly wrong yesterday. Gyokeres starting from the bench was forced but Inacio at left wing back was insanity! Fortunately we clawed it back and all we need to do is win our 2 home games, still a great testament to this squad that we ended up drawing 2-2
We’ve done it Benfica lose and the title is therefore sealed Tremendous season. Great spirit from the squad, a couple of fantastic additions in the summer and another title for Amorim. ****ing love this squad!!!
Benfica losing at Fama is hilarious. You've gotta picture that tiny little ground in a tiny little village (that's the best word I can come up with to describe it) with little Fama beating one of the biggest clubs in the world! Well done Fama, brilliant!
Wow. What a season! Great atmosphere today other than the reveal of the new home kit for next year… I’m convinced nobody does well when there’s such a drastic change of the home shirt so I’m bracing myself for next season Great win though, Gyo on fire and visibly didn’t want the game to end because he was desperate for another hattrick. It’s turned out to be an absolute romp to the league this season: - 10 points clear of Benfica - 5 points better off than the last title in 20/21 - First team to score in every single game since the league went to 34 games - Won every home league game Neto and Adan leaving the club this summer. Correct choices but a great send off. Neto has barely featured at all the last couple of years but was a huge part of the 20/21 title and Adan has dropped off massively this season but was tremendous for the majority of his time here
Went to Braga vs Porto on Saturday night. We went to see João Moutinho play one last time but it turned out we got to see another true Portuguese classic as Porto had brought the ref before the game... All joking aside it was a really good game with a great atmosphere at a beautiful, sold out stadium. Sent from my Pixel 7a using Tapatalk
It is a stunning stadium, one of the best in the world in that regard. Not like Porto to buy the ref.. Glad you enjoyed it!
Braga is just one of a kind. I don't another ground exists in the world where you go up a mountain to arrive at the top of the ground. Sublime.
If you go back make sure to grab a Francesinha at Taberna Belga before the game. We met the lad who sorted us the tickets for a meal there and it was insanely good. It had a queue of locals around the corner before it opened which is always a good sign. Sent from my Pixel 7a using Tapatalk
Sérgio definitely leaving Porto then. I wonder who AVB will go for, he has to get this one right as it's not just his first managerial appointment but he's replacing a legend and (love him or hate him) a top quality football manager. Sent from my Pixel 7a using Tapatalk
Conceicao strongly linked to Marseille these days. Sources aren't great but just thought I'd add to the debate.
Yeah it seems pretty nailed on. I don't know much about Marseille but it seems like a good fit. He's an excellent manager, the Sporting fans on here might disagree but IMO he's been the best manager in Portugal over the last decade. He's also got that backs-to-the-wall, us-against-the-world attitude that should fit with their support. You saw at Jamor the other day how much his players love him and even if you dislike him because of his behavior you can't argue with the results.
He’s a massive **** and gets his team playing like complete shithouses but the number of trophies in his time there speaks for itself. I do think Amorim is the better coach in the time both of them have been in charge
