Yeah I suppose it did depend on the map. I think because Glaz was my go to operator I prefered attacking more though.
I prefer attacking just because it feels more fun, you’re actually moving across the map and acting aggressively blowing up walls and shit. With defending you’re basically camping in a room pre-aiming a doorway waiting for someone to come through. I definitely win more rounds as a defender though. I only really have the base operators unlocked so I mostly use Thermite as attack, Sledge can be fun too though just smashing through every wall you come to. Defence is Kapkan (although he’s always banned in ranked) or Bandit. Map knowledge is key and I don’t know them at all yet. I basically restarted playing after really enjoying it on release 10 years ago. Loving it again though and I’ll be sticking with it so I’ll only improve. Looking forward to the Siege X update.
Khazan: The First Berserker A new soulslike game that’s not actually out for a couple of weeks yet, so I’m playing the demo, which is the first 2 missions of the game. This game seems much more about the combat than level design/exploration. The combat is really impressive so far and feels similar to Sekiro, but dodging and parrying feel equally as important, and both absolutely viable. The first boss is pretty challenging (killed me quite a few times) but loads of fun. It’s got an easy mode as well (unlike most soulslikes) so won’t just appeal to hardcore souls players. Only half way through the demo but enjoying it enough to pre order it. Game comes out on 27th March, but I can get to play it 3 days early due to pre ordering. After over 500 hours playing Nioh 2 it is finally time to move on, and this is the game I’m using to ween myself off of it. The layout of the controls are also very similar to Nioh, which is also rather handy!
I absolutely love it dude. A bit too much tbh as I should’ve really moved on from it by now! I’ve put more hours in it than any other game (almost 600 hours ffs). For me it’s a top 5, maybe even top 3 game of all time
600 hours is good effort, I think I only put like 400 into it. Honestly, I doubt I have many games with more hours than 600 other than Runescape, Dark Souls 1, Monster Hunter World and Rise
I just downloaded SnowRunner on gamepass and it made me wish I was dead. Within first 10 seconds of the game I got stuck in the mud took 15 minutes to get out then minute or two later got stuck in some water. Useless.
Ohhhh some Nioh fans! Nioh 2 Just made it to Dream of the Demon and I'm getting wrecked. Well, perhaps 'wrecked' is the wrong word, but health pools have gone up and I feel like I'm swinging a pillow at Superman. I've been using a pretty standard ninjitsu build all this time, so I may switch it up and go for something different. I've played through Nioh 2 about five times but never went past NG+ before so I'm enjoying some of the new mechanics like scrolls and stuff. Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams One of my favourite series is Onimusha, but I had never played this entry before. It's taken all the things I enjoy from the previous games and added to them. Great cast of characters, plenty of weapon options, and I'm enjoying the story. Really looking forward to the new Onimusha next year. Ninja Gaiden Sigma Beat Alma in chapter 9. Planning to finish this and Sigma 2 before playing the third game, a game which I haven't played before.
Dream of the Nioh there’s a big difficulty jump, and you start getting red enemies which can feel like damage sponges (you get purple ones on later NG+ cycles). My advice is do some of the easier side missions to get levelled up gear. That will make a huge difference. Try to mix and match a couple of armour sets to make use of set bonuses, and most importantly aim to confuse tough enemies as quick as possible. My end game build through the underworld and depths, I always ran purity weapons (switch glaive and dual swords) and purity guardian spirit. Very few enemies resist it and it procs really quickly. Have some feathers or familiars of any other element and you’ll confuse any enemy within seconds I started playing this game about 6 months ago and I’m just now putting it down. One of the best games I’ve ever played
I've been inflicting confusion with my current build. Purity and mainly fire with the Kasha soulcore and then swapping when something is immune or resistant to fire. I'm trying to grab hold of gear with the grace which gives versatility too. That's supposedly very strong. Like I said in my post above, I think I'm going to change up my build a little. Mind you, just installing AC: Shadows at the moment, and First Berserker: Khazan is next week so I may put this on hold for a bit!
Ninjutsu falls off the deeper you get, the only stuff that remains good are the feathers and poison shurikans if you're running a build with attack power up vs poisoned enemies (can't remember exactly what the stat is called now).
anyone going to be playing new Assassins Creed Shadows? i did thoroughly enjoy Valhalla, and this seems to be Tenchu like, which was one of my favourite PS1 games back in the day
Origins is the only AC game I've played for more than a couple of hours. Did like that one but I think I burnt out on the formula as I couldn't get into the Greece/Viking ones. Took a look at the first few hours of Shadows via a live stream. Combat and stealth look very basic, even on expert difficultly and stealth via shadows being this game's supposed selling point. Story also didn't grab me with plot or character interaction, it was super dry in that regard. It's world design and visual effects like weather and seasons do look quite impressive from a technical standpoint. For that alone might pick it up when it's inevitably on a deep sale in the not too distant future.
Yeah I noticed that fairly quickly. I'm currently trying out an 'unkillable fire' build at the moment and it's quite ridiculous.
I played it for around three last night and really enjoyed my time. The stealth is pretty good, certainly better than I was expecting. Combat feels like a casual Sekiro with forgiving parry timings and lenient dodge windows, but I quite like that. Plenty of skills to unlock and ways to build either character. Think if you liked Valhalla then you'd enjoy this. The setting and visuals are the absolute best thing about Shadows. Stunning game.
I enjoyed Odyssey for what it was. My Brother reckons the new one is pretty good. Looked at him playing though and the combat looks dumbed down as ****.
