Got back from Portugal for the second time this year, did Sicily at the start of the month which was absolutely beautiful. Waiting for the end of September for Alghero in Sardinia now!
Been in Costa del Norwich since yesterday afternoon, very nice place. Only ventured as far as the two pubs on the Canal yesterday and went up the high Street as far as the kebab shop Only bad thing is the extortionate price of the beer/cider. I'm from the north I can get a strong pint in my local for 2.90, what's all this 4.75 for a pint of cider all about? Took me eyes out and came back for the sockets. Off to the Waterfront soon for the music, I won't be able to see straight by 6pm
Norwich is a good city, can't say I noticed it was overly expensive tbh (was there last week). Probably because I'm used to it mind you. Only trip I've currently got planned is a week in Washington State. Will probably squeeze in a long weekend somewhere else but that'll be it from me Champions League run ate in to my annual leave.
Got back from Lanzarote a few weeks ago, weather was patchy and our hotel was in the middle of nowhere, preferred Gran Canaria. Off to Cala D'or in 4 weeks, haven't been to Majorca for 20 years so fingers crossed. We like going adults only, but it's very expensive compared to the traditional family holidays.
Booked a three night stay at Ayers Rock at the end of November. That’s another tick for the Australia bucket list..
Just got back from a week in Sardinia. Would recommend Alghero to anyone, lovely place and 28 degrees everyday at the end of September
I'm currently in Tulsa, Oklahoma for work. I was DREADING going here, not knowing much about it, but wow, what a town! Great downtown area, great nightlife (considering it's Monday and Tuesday), fantastic food. Best steak I've had in my life.
Got a week off work in Feb for the missus birthday so got 2 nights in Edinburgh booked. £20 for the flight up there, thank you Easyjet. Might fly on to Belfast or Dublin from Edinburgh and do a little tour of Ireland then fly back to London.
I think we may have got the timing wrong for our tigering/birding trip to Assam and Bengal this year. Our train is due to roll into Guwahati on Saturday morning. Assam burns over CAB, curfew in Guwahati, Army deployed
Just been to Tasmania for a week. It was the final frontier for me as I've now visited every state in this gorgeous country. Can't say enough about Tassie, the scenery, the people, the colours, the wine, oh the tremendous wine, all made for a great week.
@Panja Going to have to get to Tassie at some point myself. Another couple of friends of mine who are from the U.K. but live in Wangaratta were there at Christmas. Saw their photos on FB and it looks fantastic Still lots of places in Western Australia to visit though!!!
Tassie was amazing. Only had a week but we tried to fit as much as we could into those seven days. Two nights in Hobart (just enough), a night in Launceston and then three magical nights in a log cabin in Cradle Mountain before heading back to Hobart for the last night. We've just booked the Gahn for November. Six day trip from Adelaide to Darwin by train, straight through the middle of the country. Can't wait. I know what you mean about WA. We've got so much yet to see in Victoria, we're finally getting round to having a weekend in the Mornington Peninsula next month. Looks lush.
Heading back home to Detroit sometime this year, not sure if in May or September, depends on what's open in Michigan at the time. Fly in to Metro, rent a car, and travel for a couple of weeks. Visit family and friends, eat and drink all the regional fare. Make a stop a Larry Bell's Eccentric brewpub in Kalamazoo for a few pints and make merry.
Finally booked a first real trip that wasn't for work or emergency purposes. Heading to San Juan, Puerto Rico in November to chill for about a week! Really looking forward to disconnecting a bit after being cooped up at home for this long.
We've booked a trip next week to Spain, just outside Malaga - just a nice cheap getaway at relatively short notice Having to book PCR tests on day 2 of our return, and had to activate the "Covid passport" on the NHS app. It all seems like such a faff but just being able to get away for a week will be worth it.
Yeah, gonna order like one of those ID laminate holders for my vaccine card so it won't get damaged since I'll need it handy in place of a test. Small inconvenience in exchange for a week in paradise.
We thought about a cheap getaway next week, but we’ve Tenerife in November which was moved from February. Good prices at the moment in Spain
Isn't Tenerife covered in volcanic ash right now? I've got a train trip booked for the end of October, all inclusive three day, two night trip on the Ghan which goes from Adelaide to Darwin and then two nights in Darwin. Right now it's not looking like we can go as South Australia isn't letting Victorians into the state. And to make matters worse the covid figures are getting worse in Victoria, 950 cases on Tuesday rising to 1,438 today.
Holidays and most flights to La Palma have been cancelled but so far the eruption has had little effect on travel to the other Canary Islands. Hopefully that remains the case.
