Firstly, the stadium was buzzing. First time watching a football match with >500 people and the atmosphere is like something out of this world Seats were pretty far but the angle was still ok As for the match itself, here's a summary of Singapore's performance... min 1-45: shit (conceded 2 goals) min 46-54: shit (but i wasnt watching because i was at the toilet, conceded 2 goals) min 54-90: shit (conceded 3 goals) Son didn't even look like he was playing his best for most of the game, yet was easily the best player in the game. Lee was also good Our defenders were completely shit, one of them almost scored a own goal so stupid that it would have made it in a youtube compilation. If South Korea were more clinical it could have been 10 Absolute dissapointment Is this how it feels like to be a Man Utd fan 2 seasons ago?
Why do you think that Singapore has such a poor national team? Your population is 6 million and it is an affluent country, so I am curious to know. You should be getting to the final qualifying round, surely.
I actually can’t believe they got Poch. That’s a massive signing that someone with his managing resume will be coaching the US. I’m still not expecting a ton in results and imagine he quits after the WC but I’m hoping his longer term impact to US soccer will come off
They were definitely trying to get a big name as they already tried for Klopp this is a huge appointment for them.
I figured it wouldn’t be a big name with managing experience so Poch is surprising. Patrick Viera wouldn’t have been as surprising more just a name. This is almost and ideal hire and a huge fall for Poch who was supposed to be the next Real Madrid manager only a couple summers ago
South American qualifying seems really tight with only Chile and Peru probably out of it on 5/6 points. Paraguay have a 2-3 goal record so far. Four matches ended 0-0 and the remaining five 1- 0 or 0- 1. Certainly try to grind their way to the World cup!
Regarding South America, Brazil are stuttering along with a late winner midweek away to Chile. Home to Peru next. Out of the ten teams six qualify automatically with 7th in a playoff. That is a ridiculous amount to qualify from such a small pool of countries.
Brazil with a nice 4-0 win over Peru early hours. Argentina smashed Bolivia 6-0 with some fella called L.Messi scoring 3.
Sorry to go political but you feel 2026 World cup could be even more lavish and Americanised that before now.
Argentina with the world's greatest keeper beaten 2-1 by Paraguay. Brazil could only draw with the mighty Venezuela. Big one tonight with Uruguay up against Colombia.
Does the expanded format of the finals mean that the winner of the OFC qualifying stage automatically goes to the WC, rather than having to face countless playoffs against teams from other confederations? I would have thought that barring a major upset that means NZ will always have a team going to the finals.
