I've said Meh twice, and both were about the same bloke. The issue is that no one stands out. I can't think of anyone who would be available and would come to Liverpool right now and despite the shit end to the season, it's going to be a case of after the lord mayor's show. I'm not going to get excited about anyone and certainly not someone who is coming from a league which isn't really comparable to the English top flight. One look across to the Mancs shows how that can work out, regardless of how well they do over there. Hopefully it's different for us but I'll refrain from holding my breath.
Wasn't having a go mate just curious who you would personally want. Myself I am open to Slot as anyone is a gamble after Klopp tbh.
Hopefully he's the managerial equivelant of Ruud Van Nistelrooy when it comes to moving across to the Prem.
I think we're every bit "the level" of Arsenal. fact is, they've just had an easier season (knocked out of both domestic cups very early) and barely had an injury all season. Our season has imploded due to the effort in 4 comps along with both tons of injuries and the pressure of delivering trophies to the outgoing manager. All this on top of the fact the squad had to replace an entire midfield just before the season started.
Liverpool = better going forward Arsenal = better defensively But I do agree with @UnitedRoad assessment about Liverpool not being able to control games. They give up a lot of chances.
Absolutely, but maybe the fact we've had to shuffle the pack all season, think we've only fielded our strongest back five 3 times this season, I dont think you've had many disruptions at the back? Having a settled defence is as important as anything in football. I think a lot of people are making the mistake of judging our entire season on the past few weeks where its all fell apart. Up until the defeat at your gaff, we'd only lost a single game domestically all season and that was "that" Spurs game. In fact even in Europe we'd lost 2, one the dead rubber game we played a team full of kids and the other the Toulouse defeat where we got robbed of a legit equaliser late on.
No, I've been of this belief for a while. I posted this in December: Liverpool were already giving up chances before the hectic schedule and injuries hitting. I think they kept just 6 clean sheets in their opening 19 league matches. And they were all before January. The injury crisis did mean culumative fatigue kicked in for others who had to keep playing and that's why we've seen a drop off (I personally don't think said drop off is that substantial, you just can't put the ball in the net at the moment) but the underlying theme of being porous at the back has been there all season. To be fair it was there last season too. But for me, Liverpool's season fell apart over a sudden inability to score. It was their attacking prowess that was keeping them in all these competitions. Taking the many chances you create stopped...
Yeah, the missing chances thing too. We've gone from being lethal up front, we were well clear of any other team in the "Big 5 leagues" for goals scored...not sure if we still are? Now we're just ridiculous with the chances we're missing. Even the game the other night, Everton fully deserved the win and we were pretty poor...but put away the chances we had we win that game comfortably. Been too many games like this of late.
He's been the biggest culprit but it's not all down to him. Liverpool have three players in the top 10 for most big chances missed on the Premier League's site. The other two being Salah and Diaz.
Seems the club spoke with targets and Amorim was likely preferred, but seems Amorim's demands were too much, and so they've gone with Slot. tbh I like that approach. It's a huge job, the club held the cards.
