The thought was there fella ,at least you replied to my query. I'd have melted into a huge pool of f*cking spit and snot if I waited for a response before ordering ,but luckily for me I'm an impatient b@stard and as 'a general rule of thumb' afford the grass scant time to grow under my feet and ordered one this very morning........... with attachments and remote control no less. Just a little footnote ,if any f*cker suddenly pipes up that they have one of these ,then my question will be 'where the f*ck were you this morning when I needed guidance ,you ignorant tw@t'?
I've looked at this kind of kit over the years but £399 is a tad steep for something I might only use a few nights per year. Let us know if it's decent and especially how noisy it is!
I will keep you updated mate ,getting delivered Monday. The one we've got for downstairs is a Russel Hobbs which I got for a marked down price £199 from £329 it's brilliant and as quiet as a mouses fart.
Then Monday rolls around, and the heatwave is over, back to a normal cool nights so it gets put in the cupboard till next year.
I suppose this is a sign of the climate change. I can remember hearing about Americans living with air con and driving massive electric usage since the 60s and 70s and thinking they are mad but it looks like India is unlivable in the height of summer and most of Europe is getting like thst now.
I'd happily pay good money to see you get ours in a cupboard mate ? This big b@stard would probably comfortably house a dwarf with space for a walk in wardrobe. Obviously I'm exaggerating ,but nevertheless ,show me this cupboard
That's the main reason I've never bought one, it would be used maybe a dozen nights a year in an average year then stuck in the garage. It would have been handy last year when we had some really daft high temps for several weeks, but of course when that happens and you decide to buy one they're all out of stock!
You'd be amazed how often you would use it. The only reason we haven't had it out this year is it only got unbearable about a week before we left rhw cou tey for a month, so we made do and we have been too lazy to deploy them since we have got home. But it is so humid and muggy today I will probably set them up tomorrow, as I have had too many bad nights sleep since we got home.
I'm fortunate that I don't lose sleep on muggy nights, if there's one thing I've always been good at it's sleeping.
I've got an old Homebase air con machine in my bedroom. A decade or so old now but still going strong and pays for itself when the warm weather hits. Expensive to run but worth it. Wouldn't use air con generally throughout the day though it's just too expensive. Unless the modern ones are a bit cheaper to run?
Yeah sounds about right. Think mines around the 40-50p range. Costs a few quid to leave on overnight but when you've got to get up at 5am for a early shift and want a guaranteed good sleep it's money well spent. It's also handy if you've just done something really hot and sweaty like sorting the garden out in hot weather or other physical DIY jobs and you just want to cool down for 10 minutes or so.
Horrible weather for the week for me, I will think of you all (jealous) with your AC units and wish I had one in this council flat but I will have to stick by my trusted little fans in the lounge here and the bedroom.
Guess that's what you get for living in Scotland . It's like me supporting Stoke then complaining that we're always shit
