in slow motion you could see that the english player had first touched the ball and then our player, Wolter, kicked her. So not a penalty. Anyway, our goalie thought the same it seems and wanted to give it back to England with a monumental blooper Overall a very entertaining match and a win at Wembley is always special and it was overall also deserved. btw: Our new women's Bundestrainer Christian Wück has continued the tradition that every new coach of the women's team has won his/her first match and this time it was even against a heavyweight in women's football....and a little revenge for the lost Euro 2022 final at the same place
I thought our midfield looked very strong and really bossed England throughout the game, and that despite the woman machine, Lena Oberdorf, still out injured. Dallmann, Senß, Nüsken, Minge, Brand and Bühl all played very well, and although I rate all of them quite highly, I didn't expect them to control their supposedly world-class opponents so well. Of course Gwinn did quite well too, getting 2 goals as a right-back. Sarai Linder is also a very good left back, which I already knew, and she did quite well too. Like Dirk, I didn't expect Germany to score so many without Schüller, or Popp upfront. Promising start by Christian Wück, and I rate him quite highly after his titles won with the DFB junior boys.
England's defence / defending is a bit of a mess at the moment. They didn't have a great night v Germany but you can partially put that down to the quality of the opposition. They've probably conceded just as many chances tonight, particularly this second half, and looked really vulnerable at times. South Africa had never scored in international football prior to tonight but have caused England a lot of problems and made history by scoring.
Men and women playing at the same time. Both 1-0 down having conceded from a corner. What a football club! Edit* like the men, we came back to win against the claret and blue
Good goal by Jess Park but ****ing hell the goalkeepers are woeful, we need keep this winning run and we are gonna have to get something vs Chelsea.
4 wins and a draw since taking temporary charge. NLD at the weekend, if she gets a win there I think she deserves a crack full time.
Arsenal will win comfortably this weekend. Arsenal are a better team, we're not in great form and also can't keep a clean sheet. I'd be surprised if it's even close tbh.
Spurs women putting up a a great fight, big one at 17.30 , big test for both clubs , we've a few niggly injuries so will take a point.
That'll be a decent game later. This is going entirely as expected. Arsenal coming here full of confidence didn't help but we're pretty poor in all departments at the moment.
Villa and Everton winning this weekend makes for a very interesting bottom half right now. Six teams separated by 2 points. Hopefully it's a bit of a wake up call for Spurs who haven't kicked on this season and are finding themselves in a relegation scrap. We have enough quality that we'll stay up but we're drifting the wrong way.
we're ****ed if we don't sign a free agent striker, neither of our senior strikers nor our young striker in the squad are fit (no idea what Petermann's injury is, Mouchon has done her ACL and Denny Draper got injured in training for the U17 world cup), playing DMs up there isn't helping. Plus O'Brien and Rantala are out, our wingers do some good work but have no one to work off of
Yeah, not sure if Arsenal have made the temporary coach permanent yet but strange how easily they've turned their form around. Three English clubs in to the QF's so a really good chance for one of them to win it. Still a tough ask to win the Champions League with how strong Barcelona and Lyon in particular are but they're doing well.
