"Finaltag der Amateure", yeah. Great day for the Amateur clubs. 21 finals, ARD already broadcasting.

Here are all finals listed: Finaltag der Amateure 2024: Datum, Infos und Übertragung

For Hamburg it will be : USC Paloma Hamburg (Oberliga Hamburg) - Teutonia Ottensen (Regionalliga Nord)

Good luck for Hildesheim against Atlas Delmenhorst. I just watched the standings of the Oberliga Niedersachsen where both are playing. It's #5 Hildesheim vs #3 Delmenhorst, not bad. Interesting the name of your stadium: Friedrich Ebert Stadion (Reichspräsident 1919-1925).
Will you be there? Maybe you win it and with a bit of luck you'll get FC Bayern in the draw (or even better, the mighty HSV ;) )

    *********************************

And in the evening we have the big Cup final:

"David vs Goliath" it's actually, with Bayer #1 in 1.BL and FCK only #13 in 2.BL and many weeks in real danger of relegation, but good old Friedhelm Funkel could save them again (like he did with other clubs before) after he was appointed when FCK sacked the 2nd coach in the season (after Dirk Schuster also Dimi Gramozis later).

Normally it's unlikely that FCK wins this but after midweeks EL final failure of Bayer I'm not so sure anymore. The "unbeaten aura" of Bayer with 51 unbeaten matches in a row is gone after they were schooled by Atalanta Bergamo on Wednesday. Will they lose 2 finals in a row? Nah, I don't think so but..... ;)

If FCK wins it they'll get an EL spot. Before the rule change a decade (or so) ago they would also get the EL spot if they had lost the final (because Bayer is already qualified for the CL) but nowadays this place then goes to the best placed team outside the European spots in the Bundesliga.

    Cup stats for both:

Bayer won the Cup in 1993 (5-times in the final overall)
FCK won the Cup in 1990,1996 (8-times in the final overall)

    edit:
    btw, yesterday's 1.leg of the 2.Bundesliga relegation:
    Regensburg (3.Liga) vs Wiesbaden (2.BL) 2-2
2nd match in Wiesbaden on Tuesday

1.Juni, 18:00 Uhr, im Deutschen Fußballmuseum in Dortmund.

I've seen the match, too, in the Conference that ARD was showing. Good 2-0 win for Hildesheim. Fingers crossed for a good draw.

btw: VfV 06 Hildesheim? Tbh I had to google what the 2nd V means, I know VfL or VfB but didn't know about VfV. Now I know that it means "Volkssport"

    Volkssport in the Volkspark? :D
Nah, when you draw HSV then you'll get automatically a home match.

edit: Ah, only 30 min to kick-off for the DFB Cup final.

The last time that VFV reached the German cup 46 years ago they sensationally beat 2nd Division Aachen 3-0 in round two, centre forward Freddy Kotzur scored twice, his brother was until recently the landlord of my local pub, although sadly they have both passed away.
In round three they did indeed play HSV in Hamburg, Freddy was injured and VFV lost 6-0.

You'd think you'd definitely be winning a tie where you've one the first leg 3 nil away from home

Gutted for Fortuna. Our sister club in many ways their fans have stuck by ours in all our dark days. Already got our friendly booked with them at Portman Road later in the summer would have been brilliant if it was a Premier League VS Bundesliga game

That was one of the worst penalty misses ever. Never seen one go so high over the bar before. Never like seeing that happen to a player. Fair enough if the keeper saves it. I guess finishing third last in the bundesliga isn't so bad

Nearly as big of a bottle job as Posh getting beaten by Sheff Weds .

@Suffolk Punch cursed them by congratulating them last Friday  .

I shouldn't take the p*ss , the way Gladbach are going backwards over last 2 seasons they most probably will be in or around this position next year .

Well done Bochum , they'll be a few ringing in sick with 24 hour bugs / sickness in the morning ;)
